Below please find the Tips and tricks that we would like to share with you that will hopefully make your Bedroom Furniture beds purchase easier. Please See Tips Below.
1. Be sure to measure the tightest area that you will have to move the headboard through before you go shopping. Nothing can be more frustrating than buy a new piece and brining it home only to find that you can’t make it around that tight turn in the hall or through the bedroom door.
And of course we know it goes without saying, bring the tape measure with you to the store and then measure the piece.
2. Check for signs of warping. The majority of the furniture sold in America is not actually made in this country. As such you really don’t know if it was kiln dried or if it was how well. If your piece is still going to dry over the course of the next few years then you are going to want to check to see if you have any of these tell tale signs developing. Even if it’s an antique piece follow the same gridlines to see if any warping has already occurred.
A). Take a yard stick with you. If possible preferably us the metal yardstick variety as it will almost always be the most true itself. Lay it along the length of all the long edges of the beds headboard, footboard, and rails. Look for any high spots where the yardstick teeter totters or rocks back and forth. Then of course also look for gaps between the yardstick and the piece that would indicate low spots. Â These will most likely be signs of warping and then it becomes decision time as to whether or not you want to have to deal with it or just move on to the next piece.
B). look for any signs of cracking and splitting. These are most commonly going to be found at the joints where to pieces are brought together. They may also show up in the joint itself in the form of joint separation.
